Q: Will you "ballpark" a quote over the phone or email?
A: Yes- but only written estimates or bids will be honored.

Q: Why are you the cheapest / most expensive?
A: I bid very competitively and encourage you to shop the competition. Be sure to get everything in writing and understand exactly what services you will be getting. All contractors bids are not created equally. I also use high quality materials, not just the bare minimum to "get by".

An unfortunate side effect of today's economy is the fact that I am competing with "side job Charley", laid off apprentices and journeymen, "handymen", and other folks who are generally not even slightly qualified to offer electrical services. I run a legitimate company. Proper licensing, bonding, and insurance are expensive. I also opt to carry workmans compensation insurance for the protection of my customers. There are many guys running around out there who are not properly insured.

Q: Do you have weekend hours?
A: Yes. We have Saturday appointments available (plus 24/7 service for emergencies).

Q: Can I really call any time 24/7?
A: Yes. Our automated phone system will notify us immediately in the case of an emergency.

Q: What areas do you cover?
A: The Westplex including: All of St. Charles County, portions of Lincoln and Warren. Portions of St. Louis City.

In Illinois, I cover the Greater Granite City area.

Q: Why aren't you in the "phone book"?
A: I've received very poor results from "yellow pages" advertising, e.g., the cost did not justify the results. I have removed this expense and pass along the savings to our customers. We now focus on internet and local advertising. Word of mouth, by far, is our best advertising.

Q: Why are you charging for estimates now?
A: I have decided to charge a minuscule amount for most bids. This amount is applicable to the job if we do the work. The fees in no way even come close to covering the actual cost of preparing a bid or estimate. I decided to add the fee to help ensure that we devote our resources only to serious customers.

Patterson Electric offers volunteer services for worthy causes in our service areas. If your organization or clients are in need of free or reduced cost electrical or communications services (Installation, Maintenance, and Repair), please contact us for more information. As a general guideline recipients must be vetted and referred by a 501(c) type organization or charity. Political organizations generally are not eligible.
